Med-mooring and stern-to in the Grenadines: what to expect
Crews arriving from the Med expect a laid-line, a dock hand and a passerelle. Some Grenadine berths deliver exactly that; others do not.
Where stern-to works well
Glossy Bay in Canouan is purpose-built, with laid moorings, power, water and staff used to larger yachts. Blue Lagoon offers stern-to alongside within its depth limits.
Where you will anchor instead
Bequia, Mustique and the Tobago Cays are anchorage or mooring destinations. Plan for tender operations, not a gangway.
Practical points
- Confirm shore power voltage and frequency before arrival.
- Bring your own bow lines and fenders sized for concrete quays.
- Swell can enter some berths on a northerly; ask before committing to a long stay.
- Tender traffic is heavy in season — brief crew on wash and speed limits.
What we do
We confirm the berth's depth, power and line arrangement in writing, arrange dock assistance, and have water, fuel and waste collection scheduled for the same window.
Ask before you arrive
- Depth alongside at low water, and the approach
- Shore power voltage, frequency and amperage
- Whether lines are laid or you are dropping your own anchor
- Water, waste and fuel availability on the same berth
We confirm all four in writing before you commit to a berth, so a long passage does not end in a rearranged plan.
